LEARN MORE ABOUT THE VOLUNTEERING SYSTEM!
Q: Where are the hours I earn at Student Forum applicable?
A: Student Forum is an official nonprofit corporation, so volunteer hours are applicable for:
-
School community service requirements
-
Honor societies like NHS or service clubs
-
Scholarship applications
-
College applications
Where our hours are not applicable for:
-
Presidential Service Awards
If you have any questions or concerns about if volunteer hours you earned at Forum are applicable, please feel free to ask us and we will get back to you quickly.
Q: How are volunteer hours earned?
A: Volunteer hours are earned both based on the length of the article and if we publish the article on our site. The minimum length of an article should be 200 words and a maximum at 2,000 words.
200 - 400 words: 30 minutes
401 - 700 words: 1 hour
701 - 1,000 words: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Over 1,000: 2 hours
If your article is sent out to be published, we add an extra hour on top of that. Please note that if your articles are consistently not being sent to be published and are showing low effort, we will unfortunately have to ask you to leave the writing team.
Q: Is there a limit to how many articles I can send? Do I need to send articles on a schedule?
A: No! Once approved, you can set your own schedule as to how frequently/infrequently you want to write.
Q: How can I ensure my volunteer hours are being tracked?
We will share a tracker with you. If you notice any mistakes or errors, please reach out to us to fix it! If you need to send proof of your hours to an organization/school/club, contact us and we will be able to provide it.
